A Fond Goodbye to the Old Town Hall

The ever stylish Miss Anita Simpson, one of our most regular visitors poses in the sunshine outside the Old Town Hall on Sunday 19th November before coming to what is sadly going to be our last event at this venue.

Although the beautiful hall was full of fabulous vintage and great retro, the footfall on the day was the lowest we have ever seen at any of our events over the past few years.  The visitor numbers have been in decline since our first fair here 3 years ago almost to the day when we had an amazing 750 through the door.  It doesn’t make economic sense to carry on when the demand isn’t there despite our extensive advertising in the local press, vintage magazines, lifestyle magazines and social media.  It’s also not fair on the stallholders who expect a certain level of customers for their investment.

So with a heavy heart, Alison and Lyn have decided not to continue in High Wycombe.  Thank you to all of our visitors on Sunday who took the time to come along and to our lovely stallholders who are always so friendly and forgiving.

However, don’t be downhearted!  We have another Ruby’s in Abingdon this Saturday 25th November at Our Lady’s Abingdon School.  That’s the last one of the year for us but we already have one meeting booked to chat about coming back to Sandhurst Military College Heritage Open Day in the summer and we have 2 exciting new events that currently in the early stages of discussion.

And of course, we have our 2 day Millets Farm Centre Fair booked for 8th and 9th of July with other events to be announced soon so please keep an eye on our Facebook page and this website.

  1. Sorry to see you are no longer holding your events in High Wycombe. From my experience the first two I went to were £1 entry and brilliant with singers and vintage makeup, then the entry fee went up and the singers and makeup were no longer there so I stopped going

  2. Thank you for your comments – we always try to get entertainment and hair/make up but it is very hit and miss depending on who is available on the day. For example, we had Miss Lianna Haynes singing for us on 19th November.

We put the cost up to £2.00 to cover our increased costs and then went down to £1.50 to try and make it more affordable but things like insurance and table hire are now having to be factored in but I quite understand your reservations.
