Ruby’s at the Beacon, Wantage Sunday 15th May

Rita1

The day dawned bright and sunny with a beautiful vintage car parked outside the Beacon in Wantage to welcome our visitors … but it wasn’t Ruby.  Instead Rita the Rover P5 who belongs to Jenny and Steve Storey of Hidden Treasures  was stood up as Ruby failed to start despite running like a dream the day before.  However, working on the basis that Better Late than Never, she turned up to keep Rita company but missed the pretty Austin A10 which arrived mid morning

Inside, we had a delightful mix of regular and new stallholders, all of whom outdid themselves on quality of stock and display as mentioned by our visitors.  Some of our new stallholders included the PopUpPinUp Studio who were offering a special deal on photo sessions, aided by 2 gorgeous girls dressed for the occasion.  A complete newcomer to both Ruby’s and selling was Jenny Nicholls but she did herself proud in a pink 1950s gown and spectacular diamante earrings.  Rose and her very helpful son from the local sweetie shop gave us those retro sweets that we thought we would never see again.

Steve Conway sang his heart out for us, giving us his own smooth versions of ratpack favourites and the Beacon’s own coffee shop served delicious cake and teas to weary shoppers.

We are back at the Beacon in November but now we are straight on to the final details of our next event at Holme Grange Craft Village near Wokingham on Saturday 4th June where the whole site will be full of bunting, live music, vintage vehicles and of course, Ruby’s Vintage & Retro Fair.  Entrance is free so come along and say hello!
